Hell of a Summer
Singer and Echoer
Discovered by accident while Sivis artificers were attempting to fix a problem with their famous Sending Stones, the Echoer system transmits sound through the air over extremely long distances. By using a large horn-like device called a Singer, usually situated in a soundproofed room, speakers miles away can transmit their voices to receivers called Echoers.
There are several Singer stations in Throneport, including the original House Sivis Broadcast Network, the Throneport Information System, transmitting public information and news to listeners, the Phiarlan Entertainment Service for music and Singer plays, the Lightsinger Live Performance, transmitting live opera and music performances from the Lightsinger Theater in Castle Ward, and the Call of Triumph, where announcers describe the action on the Field of Triumph during sporting evens.
Still somewhat expensive, Echoers are typically found in taverns and pubs and in the homes wealthy and well connected people, but as prices come down and the devices become more available, Echoers are starting to be seen in the homes of the middle class.
